History of Reiki

Reiki came to the United States from Japan, via Hawaii. In 1917, Dr. Usui in Japan rediscovered an ancient hands-on healing technique. He named the technique Reiki, or Universal Life Force. In 1938, Mrs. Hawayo Takata, an American from Hawaii, went to Japan and was cured of serious illness by Reiki treatments. She learned Reiki and brought it to the West. Reiki is now practiced throughout the United States and worldwide.
